When delicious pickles aren't enough to win our hearts

It's been a tough three weeks for Israel.

Your trashy neighbor has a child who constantly pees on your lawn and sets flaming bags of poop on your porch.

You retaliate but laying some hurt on said child, but his parents protest (yet also refuse to discipline him themselves) and to top things off, children's aid comes and reprimands you for your abusive ways.

It's just not a cut and dry situation. With that said however...

Ban expressed "outrage" over the bombing. He said Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak told him there had been a "grave mistake" and promised to pay extra attention to protecting U.N. installations. The Israeli military had no immediate comment on the bombing, which a U.N. official said injured at least three people.

That must be the most understated paragraph I've read in a while. You think Barak is sending Ban an apologetic fruit basket as we speak? What do you even write on a card for that situation? "Sorry for almost blowing you and your international peacekeeping efforts up. Lunch on me next Tuesday?"

Anyways, in completely unrelated news, the following excerpt from the latest Simmons mailbag really puts all this upcoming inauguration hoopla in perspective:

Q: Did you know Gabrielle Carteris turned 48 this month? Forty-eight! Barack Obama doesn't turn 48 until August. An original 90210 cast member is older than our president.
-Nora L., Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

SG: Are you trying to get me to kill myself?

One day that unruly child is going to grow stronger and it's going to get ugly again.

I don't think barring weapons from being smuggled into Gaza is going to stop Hamas from plotting a huge attack later. Then again, they might not be that organized.

If i've learned anything from "enders game" its if you want to truly win you have to wipe out every last of your enemy and not stop until you do. Genocide/murder perhaps but that's the only way to prevent the unruly child and anyone related to that kid from creating havok in the future. Then someday a famous director will make a movie about it.

...isn't the actual lesson of 'Ender's Game' that genocide is bad, since if humans had used diplomacy they would have realized the buggers had no intention of attacking again after learning about human sentience during the second invasion?

In the end only ender felt bad about it. Everyone else cheered and celebrated. But then again he should feel at least a little guilty since he single handedly killed them all off. I'm not saying i think genocide is warranted I'm just saying if you want to protect yourself from future retaliation you have to finish them all off in 1 go. The buggers knew the humans would come back someday and try kill them off. Just like when you play Risk you have to completely kill off that colour or the next round they can trade in and get you back. Same goes when ender killed those 2 boys sure he didnt mean to kill them but he did want to hurt them so bad that they wouldnt retaliate. Its a good military strategy. I think a bunch of the books in the series is all about humans wanting to kill off entire species due to communication problems. The other books in the series arent quite as good.
